Asbestos Removal in Wood Village

Wood Village is a small city with a big share of manufactured homes and 1970s houses. We test before any remodel or teardown, remove what the lab confirms, and handle the DEQ paperwork and disposal.

More than a quarter of Wood Village’s homes are mobile or manufactured homes, and close to a third were built in the 1970s.

Services we offer

Manufactured home work

Ceiling, floor and wall panel testing, then removal of anything positive. Our manufactured home asbestos removal page covers owner-occupied and rented homes.

Homes in Wood Village

The 1970s built more homes in Wood Village than any other decade, and over half the city’s housing is older than 1980. Apartment buildings of five or more units are rare, under 1 in 20 homes.

Manufactured homes

Oregon treats a manufactured home as a residential building. One built before 2004 needs an accredited survey before a renovation or demolition, unless the owner lives in it and is doing a remodel personally.

1970s houses

Sprayed ceilings, sheet vinyl, tile and siding from that decade are the materials to sample first. Each layer gets its own result.

Permits and the state rules

Wood Village’s permits page lists demolition permits but doesn’t mention asbestos. The state rules carry the weight here. Survey first, DEQ notice 10 days before friable work or five days before nonfriable work, then removal and disposal at a DEQ-permitted landfill.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove asbestos from my own manufactured home?

You can, as the owner living in it, though DEQ strongly advises hiring a pro. Renting it out or planning to demolish it ends that option. Bags, labels and a permitted landfill are required either way.

Where does the waste go?

To a DEQ-permitted asbestos landfill, with its shipment form. The landfill must approve each load, and DEQ suggests calling at least a day ahead.

Does the city need to see the survey?

Its permits page doesn’t say so. Ask the City of Wood Village when you apply for a demolition permit, and keep the survey report on site either way.
